- ➤ Linda Mazur and her husband Jack received a county proclamation from Executive Adam Bello for The Emilee Connection’s work raising awareness about eating disorders after their daughter Emilee’s battle, which was highlighted when Linda was named a Remarkable Woman in early March. - ➤ Herbert Montgomery, 46, was convicted on Monday of second-degree murder for fatally stabbing Christopher Austin during an argument at a Mobil gas station on North Street in Rochester around 9:30 p.m. on July 26—he fled the scene but was caught the next morning. Democrat & Chronicle

- ➤ Beginning April 7, the New York State Department of Transportation will close the westbound on-ramp at Exit 27 and reduce I-490 traffic over the Erie Canal and Kreag Road to one open lane. - ➤ A working paper from the Center for Public Safety Initiatives at RIT shows that traffic stops by the Rochester Police Department have dropped nearly every year since a peak in 2017—reaching 2,107 stops in 2023 and a 74 percent decline from the high. The paper notes that while fewer vehicles during COVID may have contributed, the continued decrease suggests a long-term trend and calls for improved data collection for transparency.
