About this event

Getting Virtual Reality to Scale: Doing the Opposite of the Encumbents

Join Robert Fine, Founder and Executive Director of the International Virtual Reality and Healthcare Association (IVRHA), for a discussion of the history, current landscape, and future opportunities for virtual reality (VR) in healthcare.

Robert has been involved in advancing conversations around VR and healthcare since 2017, when he organized the first conference dedicated to the topic at George Washington University Hospital. Following a second conference at Harvard Medical School in 2018, he founded IVRHA in 2019 with 40 founding member organizations. The association has since grown to more than 130 member organizations worldwide. Robert also teaches an Introduction to XR course at Champlain College and brings extensive experience in technology strategy, development, and engineering.

During his presentation, Robert will provide a brief history of VR in healthcare, examine the current state of the field, and share his perspective on emerging opportunities over the next three to five years. He will also discuss the reasons behind the decision to develop their own VR headset for healthcare.

Following the presentation, there will be a demonstration of the VERA platform.
