COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Bristol Mountain opened its 61st ski season on Saturday and Sunday in Ontario County (offering access to three trails and the Comet Express chairlift for holiday skiers). It closed Monday through Thursday for snowmaking.  ABC 13
  • Yesterday, Ontario County law enforcement paired local children with volunteer officers for the annual Shop with a Cop event in Hopewell, helping kids choose holiday gifts (the program built community trust).  ABC 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Rochester Gay Men’s Chorus performed on Sunday afternoon at Downtown United Presbyterian Church to kick off the holiday season — featuring Christmas classics and a Hanukkah tribute with performances by the Rochettes and RGMC ensembles.  News 10
  • Community members and advocates attended the screening of the Academy Award-nominated short film 'Death by Numbers' on Saturday, Dec. 6 in Rochester. Hosted by the ROC Against Gun Violence Coalition and Councilmember Willie Joe Lightfoot Sr., the event featured a live discussion on gun violence and local solutions.  ABC 13
  • On Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, the Blue Star Mothers of Rochester held their 10th annual Lights of Honor ceremony at One War Memorial Square downtown — guests placed ornaments on a tree to honor service members and their families.  ABC 13
  • The Rochester Yacht Club hosted a ceremony today to mark the 84th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, where veterans and color guards (including American Legion groups) paid tribute with wreaths and eight tolls of a Navy bell, honoring the victims and their sacrifices in World War II.  News 10

  • Flu cases are rising as local hospitals report higher respiratory admissions and 19 patients are hospitalized; health leaders urge the community to get vaccinated and use urgent care for non-severe symptoms.  WXXI News

  • Monroe’s Red Jackets won the NYS Class B football title on Saturday, Dec. 6 with a 34-0 victory over Sleepy Hollow at Ernie Davis Legends Field (Syracuse).  ABC 13
  • The Bills exploited the Bengals' weak tight-end defense on Sunday at Highmark Stadium to win 39-34, with Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox and Jackson Hawes scoring key touchdowns. Coach Sean McDermott credited a focused game plan that turned the match in their favor.  Democrat & Chronicle
  • On Sunday, the Bills overcame a ten point deficit to win 39 to 34 over the Bengals at Highmark Stadium, with quarterback Josh Allen's record-setting run powering the comeback and keeping playoff hopes alive.  Democrat & Chronicle
