COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A water main break on Culver Road last month spilled roughly 2 million gallons, swamped several basements and left dozens without water (crews worked to contain the flow and restore service).  Democrat & Chronicle
  • Residents in Fairport woke up without power on Friday, Dec. 5 as the outage forced school cancellations in the Fairport Central School District — power returned around 7:20 a.m. as confirmed by officials.  ABC 13

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Country Sweet Chicken and Ribs announced its Greece restaurant at 1600 West Ridge Road will close on Dec. 13 — its lease has expired. The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner until its closing, while its original Henrietta location remains open.  Democrat & Chronicle

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Rochester Gay Men's Chorus will perform holiday concerts this weekend with a program titled Yuletide Radiance: From Darkness to Light at Hochstein Performance Hall Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and at DUPC Sunday at 3 p.m., asking attendees to bring an unwrapped toy for the Pirate Toy Fund.  ABC 13
  • W. Kamau Bell is stopping by ARC Rochester today to share his plans before his comedy show at 7:30 p.m. at Nazareth University’s Callahan Theater.  ABC 13
  • The seventh annual Roc Holiday Village has turned Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park into a festive wonderland offering shopping, ice skating and igloo spaces until Dec. 28 (with over 25 local merchants and community artists inviting families to celebrate the season).  ABC 13
  • On Friday, Dec. 5, hundreds gathered at Genesee Brewery to view a three-story Keg Tree made from over 650 beer kegs and lit by 25,000 lights — an event that featured food trucks, custom donuts from Donuts Delite, and raised funds for the Breast Cancer Coalition.  ABC 13
