COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Celeste and Dorothy—two two-year-old Vietnamese Potbelly pigs—arrived at Lollypop Farm on July 10 and are now available for adoption in search of a quiet home with plenty of mud wallows.  News 10
  • Rochester florist owner Stacy K. Ercan said her shop supports 15 employees as local stores help boost support during the holiday season. Today, small businesses in the Monroe Avenue area hold events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — including a community clean-up and holiday bazaar — along with a firehouse open house.  News 10
  • Adriana Jackson, a single mother in Rochester, is having trouble finding affordable housing as her $2,000 monthly income does not meet rent requirements. City officials say 5,000 new housing units have been added in five years—more affordable options are still needed for families like hers.  News 10
  • 13WHAM is working with the Pirate Toy Fund to collect 30,000 new unwrapped toys for children in need this holiday season; Chris Lopez kicked off the drive on November 28 at Barnes & Noble in Webster and drop-off sites will stay open until December 6 (with several community locations) (donations must be new and unwrapped).  FOX Rochester

  • House of Guitars hosted its annual Black Friday Record Store Day event on November 28, offering exclusive vinyl releases, collectibles, and free live entertainment—supporting local family-owned record stores—to stand against big chain retailers.  ABC 13
  • Local drag star Mrs. Kasha Davis will host 'Drag Me to Brunch' on Dec. 27 at BTB Wood fired Pizza Bar and Grill as part of the 'Drag Me to the Stage' series presented by ARC Rochester—she is set to bring festive fun to local audiences.  ABC 13
