- ➤ Veterans Outreach Center on South Avenue supported local veterans during Veterans Day and helped many through its programs as Laura Heltz explained the center's work — it will continue offering services in Rochester to honor those who served. ABC 13
- ➤ The DWIGHT Food Pantry at downtown MCC is hosting Gratitude Fest to offer free holiday food to students amid a SNAP freeze + high food insecurity, with Student Services specialist Nicole Meyer saying the event is designed to give essential support during this challenging time. ABC 13

- ➤ Wilmorite announced at Eastview Mall in Victor that three stores opened ahead of holiday shopping — Lolli & Pops began on Nov. 2 with a free candy bar offer for the first 4,000 shoppers, Urban Planet launched its 15,080-square-foot store on Oct. 31, and Swarovski returned on Oct. 13 near Center Court. - ➤ Stokoe Farms in Scottsville has been inducted into New York’s Historic Business Preservation Registry for operating over 50 years and covering about 4,000 acres since its founding in 1812. - ➤ On Tuesday, Veterans Day events in the Rochester area honored the sacrifices of military members. In Rochester, Hochstein School held a ceremony with a Bells of Peace rendition and a Taps performance while Brighton and nearby towns unveiled memorials (including a sign for Sgt. Kory Wade and a proclamation for veteran Gary Ginsburg) to acknowledge local service. ABC 13
- ➤ A benefit concert will feature Skycoasters, Reporter and a Silent Disco at Turkey Bash on Nov. 14 from 7 to 11 at 550 East Avenue to support Rochester's Honor Flight veterans. - ➤ Ellyn Gooch of Strangebird Beer was named Rochester’s favorite brewer by City Magazine readers last year and is competing for the title again as votes remain open until Nov. 28. - ➤ Pulitzer-winning investigative journalist David Cay Johnston will lead a two-hour class on the tools of reporting at Writers & Books on Thursday, Nov. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m.—the event, hosted by ARC Rochester, will help people learn the basics of news reporting. ABC 13

- ➤ Environmental journalist Dan Egan spoke on November 9 at Fort Hill Performing Arts Center in Canandaigua and urged lawmakers to set tougher limits on phosphorus runoff that harms the Great Lakes and local water sources—he warned that current practices risk harmful algae blooms.
