  • Fairport's Main Street and sidewalks reopened yesterday after a six‐month project fixed the culvert over Thomas Creek—local shops and restaurants offered special promotions while Merchants Association president Doug Sharp said the improvements would boost traffic flow.  WXXI News
  • The Rochester area marked Veterans Day with events honoring local veterans—RIT hosted a breakfast on Friday for over 350 veterans, a parade is taking place today at 10:30 a.m. ending at Highland Park, and Brighton will hold a ceremony on Tuesday at 2 p.m. to honor veteran Gary Ginsburg.  News 10

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Eastview Mall in Victor celebrated the grand opening of its new candy store Lolli & Pops on Friday at 11 a.m. The store offered treats like chocolate and gummies and gave a free candy bar with any purchase to the first 4,000 customers.  News 10
  • Rochester business owners say their sales are hurt because many customers rely on SNAP benefits that are paused — a federal judge ordered the administration to fully fund the program by Friday, a decision that could restore crucial daily revenue. One store manager noted that missed payments may cost some businesses up to $3,000 in lost earnings this month.  News 10

  • Rochester native Mimi Kennedy will give a book talk and signing today at Writers & Books to promote her book Taken to the Stage — the event runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at 740 University Avenue.  ABC 13

FINANCE NEWS

  • On Friday, the New York Lottery announced that a Take 5 ticket sold at Wegmans in Irondequoit won a top prize of $19,015 for Thursday’s midday drawing. The winner’s identity has not been revealed — officials said it remains confidential.  ABC 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Army Air Corps Staff Sgt. John Pagliuso, a World War II hero, was laid to rest at Old Elmwood Cemetery in Lyons on Friday, November 7 after being missing for 83 years and confirmed through DNA testing. The burial brought together family, local officials, and military representatives—honoring his service and sacrifice.  FOX Rochester
  • City statistics show that Veo e-scooter and e-bike users took over 567,000 trips in 2025—a 33% increase from last year. Veo will begin storing its fleet in mid-December and resume service in the spring.  WXXI News
  • The FAA ordered a 10% flight cut nationwide on Friday because of the government shutdown—its goal is to ease pressure on unpaid air traffic controllers. At Rochester’s airport most flights were on schedule and the towers had enough staff, though officials said small delays may still occur.  WXXI News

  • Busy parent Amit Chitre wrote The Other Playbook to help student-athletes learn how to build a strong personal brand—he says the book fills a gap by involving students and their families in the process.
