- ➤ Today, Webster Public Library opens its fall book sale for Friends Members from 4 to 7 p.m. From Oct. 23, the sale will be open to all with hardcover books at $1, paperbacks at 50 cents, and bring-your-own-bag days on Oct. 24 and 25 offering books for $5 as proceeds support the library. News 10
- ➤ Organizers announced Tuesday, Oct. 21 plans for the 7th annual Roc Holiday Village at MLK Park in downtown Rochester—activities include ice skating, live music, and seasonal treats with special events like Story Time with Santa. The festival will run Dec. 5-21 and Dec. 26-28 with a new presenting sponsor, ESL Federal Credit Union. ABC 13

- ➤ Bass Pro Shops will open a 90,000 square foot store at Eastview Mall in Victor in the space once used by Lord and Taylor in late 2026. Wilmorite said the new shop — long vacant and highly anticipated — will boost the mall's draw for local shoppers. News 10

- ➤ The Avant Garde a Clue II Festival is underway at 75 Stutson St.—performers Zilmrah and R.C. Christian present noise music at ARC Rochester as the event runs until Oct. 26. Organizers say the festival brings cutting edge sounds to downtown Rochester. ABC 13
- ➤ Judah Sealy, a local musician and teacher, will appear as saxophonist Clarence Clemons in the Bruce Springsteen biopic 'Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere' which premieres nationwide Friday, Oct. 24 — local theaters will show the film on Thursday. ABC 13

- ➤ The Vacuum Oil site in Rochester, founded in the 1860s and once critical in making lubricating oil that helped shape ExxonMobil, remains an abandoned brownfield south of downtown off Exchange+Flint streets. Local cleanup advocates call for a Level 1 cleanup as graffiti and debris have marred the property. Democrat & Chronicle

- ➤ Foodlink CEO Julia Tedesco said the organization is supplementing USDA shipments as the government shutdown enters its third week and may delay new SNAP orders for 150,000 local households. The OTDA warned benefits for SNAP and HEAP could be delayed in November if the shutdown persists—raising concerns about increased food insecurity in the region. WXXI News
- ➤ New York State Parks released a framework plan for a 40-acre High Falls State Park in Rochester that will blend recreation, history and ecology—technical design and permitting are set from 2026 to 2029 with phased construction from 2027 to 2032. Democrat & Chronicle

- ➤ The former Hotel Cadillac in downtown Rochester will be transformed into a fine arts loft that provides affordable housing for unhoused residents and young adults and commercial space for start-ups—Rochester City Council approved loan agreements, appropriations, and a payment in lieu of taxes on Tuesday with over $6 million in federal funds to support the project.
