- ➤ Scarecrows appeared on Monday outside Park Avenue merchants as part of the Harvest Walk event, and this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. visitors will vote for their favorite scarecrow and enter a drawing for a Park Avenue goodie basket—merchants will also receive awards. News 10
- ➤ Boys and Girls Clubs of Rochester hosted a drive-thru distribution event on Oct. 14 that provided 400 local families a 25-pound food box, a 15-pound box of personal care items, a backpack of school supplies + Price Rite gift cards. The event was part of Feed the Children's Feeding Minds and Bodies program in its 10th year to help families facing food insecurity. ABC 13
- ➤ Al Sigl is preparing the 36th annual Community WalkAbout to boost Halloween spirit and support disabled individuals. The fundraiser will take place on Sunday, Oct. 19 at Eastview Mall. ABC 13

- ➤ Starting in spring 2026, American Cruise Lines will offer a 9-day Great Lakes cruise from Syracuse to Cleveland that stops in Rochester on the fifth day. - ➤ Classical musicians of African descent from across America are performing at Eastman School of Music’s Gateways Music Festival, which began on Oct. 14 and runs through Oct. 16. The festival features a show today at Hatch Recital Hall and a concert on Thursday at Kodak Hall — with performers such as bassoonist Monica Ellis and oboist Titus Underwood. ABC 13
- ➤ The Landmark Society is hosting ghost walking tours this weekend in Rochester. The hour-long tours run Friday and Saturday from 6:30 p.m.—at the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word on East Avenue—and tickets cost $22 for members and $27 for non-members. News 10

- ➤ RIT added a second ambulance to its campus EMS agency on Tuesday, Oct.14 to double its capacity for over 600 emergency calls each year—nearly 60 staff, including students, support operations on and off campus. ABC 13
- ➤ UR has not explained why it expelled a student from Eastman who reported harassment, causing many to worry she was punished for speaking up. The school admitted it did not follow its own rules when it handled her complaint but has not given clear answers as her case awaits a state review—raising questions about fairness in higher education. - ➤ RIT expanded its emergency medical services by adding a second ambulance funded by a $272,000 state grant.
