- ➤ A new app called Too Good To Go launched in Rochester earlier this year to reduce food waste by offering discounted surprise bags of near-expiration prepared food—local users have already bought nearly 10,000 meals, including a Whole Foods bag that cost $10.79 for $30 of value. The app lets residents reserve a surprise bag from participating stores during specific pickup times after dinner. Democrat & Chronicle
- ➤ Frost and Foundry has opened at 1245 Park Ave offering 12 flavors of Perry's ice cream, shakes, floats, sundaes, slushies and a unique rolled ice cream made on a cold griddle—an entertaining twist that sets the shop apart. Owners Michael and Marie Carducci plan to add homemade sorbets, Italian ices and seasonal menu items as they grow the business. Democrat & Chronicle
- ➤ Genesee Brewing in Rochester will keep operating normally after FIFCO’s $3.2 billion sale to Heineken excluded the local brewery—no immediate changes are expected. FIFCO said it is exploring future strategic alliances while the deal is set to close early next year. WXXI News
- ➤ Black Button Distilling was saved from bankruptcy when Kentucky-based Blackstar Company invested in the local distillery led by Jason Barrett—this deal keeps the tasting room closed while farmers’ markets will run each weekend and all nine full-time employees remain on the job. ABC 13

- ➤ The ROC the Riverway festival returns to Rochester this weekend—celebrating both the Genesee River and the Erie Canal’s 200th anniversary. The event will offer scenic cruises, historical talks, and guided tours starting Friday at 12 p.m. and ending Sunday at 4 p.m. News 10

- ➤ The City of Rochester held its 'ROC the Block' job fair at Parcel 5 on Sept. 24, where over 100 employment and resource vendors helped job seekers and started in-person budget outreach—job seekers also used a mobile unit to apply. The fair will continue at several locations until Oct. 25 to offer more opportunities. ABC 13

- ➤ Rochester City School District employees have faced payroll errors — missing wages and incorrect sick time — since the district switched to the Oracle Fusion Program on July 1. Teachers and support staff plan to rally outside Central Office today to demand faster fixes while the district works with outside experts to resolve the issues. WXXI News

- ➤ Construction on two new pickleball courts at Outhouse Park in Canandaigua is nearly finished and will be ready for play in October+ town crews from parks and highways work to add more outdoor facilities and ease crowding at existing courts. Democrat & Chronicle
