A new app called Too Good To Go launched in Rochester earlier this year to reduce food waste by offering discounted surprise bags of near-expiration prepared food—local users have already bought nearly 10,000 meals, including a Whole Foods bag that cost $10.79 for $30 of value.

The app lets residents reserve a surprise bag from participating stores during specific pickup times after dinner.
