- ➤ STREAM US Data Centers, LLC is reworking its Project Double Reed at STAMP after the Genesee County Economic Development Center board removed approvals on Sept. 4 as the company now wants to build a larger facility than the approved 900,000 square feet on 59 acres. The planned project will aim for more jobs and growth while some local leaders worry it may cause noise—water issues and higher electricity prices. Democrat & Chronicle
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, the New York Department of Environmental Conservation warned that dry conditions make backyard fires risky in Rochester—forest rangers said that small campfires can quickly grow and urged campers, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts to use designated fire pits and fully extinguish fires. Officials stressed that even a small fire can rapidly spread if left unattended. News 10

- ➤ New York announced that next July 1 Essential Plan coverage will end for 450K enrollees as the state reverts to a lower income limit—about 17,000 in Westchester and nearly 16,000 in Monroe will lose coverage. Gov. Hochul said the move is needed to secure funds for the remaining 1.3 million enrollees and urged employers to offer health insurance while federal approval is pending. Democrat & Chronicle
- ➤ Senator Samra Brouk and local leaders gathered in downtown Rochester on Saturday, Sept. 20 to honor Daniel Prude by celebrating Daniel’s Day—urging lawmakers to pass Daniel’s Law that would adopt a peer-led, non-police response for mental health crises. ABC 13

- ➤ Cyclocross racers from around the world competed in the 17th annual UCI event at Genesee Valley Park—UCI Class one raced on Saturday and Class two will race today. - ➤ Irondequoit improved its record to 3 to 0 after turnovers produced three fumble recoveries and one interception in a win against Canandaigua — a 55-yard return by Anthony Major gave the team its first points and a touchdown run by Cooper Moore set the lead.
