- ➤ Today in Rochester, a new nonprofit program called Eunie's Buddies is launching to support families of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program — part of Best Buddies International — also introduces Uni Buddies to guide families during a new diagnosis. News 10
- ➤ Street Machines of Rochester will host its first Christmas in September Car Show at Chef's Party House in Parma on Sunday—boosting the Pirate Toy Fund's holiday program. Families can join festive car competitions and pay a $20 fee or bring an unwrapped toy to donate. ABC 13
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A teacher in the Le Roy Central School District was placed on administrative leave after inappropriate social media posts referenced Charlie Kirk's killing and insulted his supporters. He apologized to the community and met with district officials on September 12 (the posts have since been deleted) as the district reviews the incident. Democrat & Chronicle
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Finger Lakes Land Trust acquired two preserves — one in Naples with 122 acres and one in Canadice that total about 240 acres to support its Hemlock to High Tor project and protect water quality. The trust will transfer the Naples site to the state Department of Environmental Conservation to help manage local habitats and recreation. WXXI News

- ➤ A massive water main break near Monroe Avenue and Shepard Street caused major flooding Saturday night and left dozens of cars partially submerged until city crews contained the break by 11 p.m.; officials reported that water pressure returned within an hour and water quality was not compromised—no boil water order was needed. - ➤ The Irondequoit Town Board passed a resolution today to make the town an age-friendly community that will offer equal access to services for both young and old — like improved transportation, health care, housing and outdoor spaces — as part of plans supported by the Monroe County Aging Alliance.
