CRIME NEWS

  • Today, the Rochester Catholic Diocese sex abuse case closed after six years as 475 survivors — including Carol Dupre who wore white to show purity — will receive a $246 million settlement that is expected to be paid in about four to five months.  News 10

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mount Hope World Singers will perform The Hundred Windows — a show that blends live voices and electronic sounds to turn nature into music — at The SHED at RIT on Sept. 13 and at JCC Hart Theater on Sept. 15 as part of the ESL Rochester Fringe Festival. The performance, inspired by Ed Yong’s An Immense World, marks the final show of the project before the group begins planning a new production for next year.  Rochester Beacon
  • The M&T Bank Clothesline Arts Festival returns to the Memorial Art Gallery today—with over 300 artists taking part and a new award debuting. Tickets are $5 for adults as the event runs from 10 to 5 today and tomorrow.  ABC 13

  • Residents on Avery Street complained about roaming chickens and messy chicken poop while city officials fined Brianna Bonanni $1,000 for code violations. The city is suing her to seize the birds and will hold a court hearing on Oct. 22.  Democrat & Chronicle
