- ➤ Local musician Katy Eberts, paralyzed in a 2023 crash, shared her inspiring story of recovery at Catholic Charities Family and Community Services' inaugural Blue and White Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency on Sept. 4—she thanked supporters and helped raise funds for community programs. ABC 13

- ➤ Monroe County Sheriff's Office said that after Ryan Armstrong drove a U-Haul truck into the Erie Canal during a high-speed chase Tuesday night following a theft at a Brockport Walgreens, his passenger Reginald Russell, 56, drowned when he tried to escape the vehicle—Armstrong is now charged with second-degree manslaughter. - ➤ Perinton officials, Lollypop Farm, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office seized 50 cats from a Kreag Road home on August 20 and issued 16 code violations for unsanitary conditions, electrical hazards and odor issues—homeowners George and Pamela Meyer will appear in town court on September 23 to face charges. - ➤ Downtown Rochester will host the ESL Rochester Fringe Festival—now in its 14th year—with acrobatics, music, theater, disco and inventive performances starting September 9; the event is expected to draw about 100,000 people and will feature headliner Cheslea Handler on September 13 at Kodak Hall. - ➤ In Rochester, the film Deaf President Now—documenting the 1988 protest at Gallaudet University for a deaf leader—was screened at The Little Theatre on Sept. 3 to a receptive audience; NTID president Caroline Solomon attended and said the film shows that deaf people can lead while emphasizing that more inclusion is needed. The event was well received by local community members who see it as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for deaf rights. WXXI News
