  • The I Love the 90s Tour will give 1,000 tickets to veterans through the Sunny Mike Foundation at Rochester Community Sports Complex on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 2 to 10 p.m.—the event supports local veterans.  ABC 13

CRIME NEWS

  • Humane Society officials responded on August 20 to neighbor complaints about the Kreag Road home in Perinton—where over 50 cats were rescued—and now George and Pamela Meyer face dozens of misdemeanor charges for animal cruelty and neglect.  NewsRadio WHAM
  • Greece Police arrested three suspects in two stolen vehicle investigations—one involving a car stolen from South Carolina—using a license plate reader at Greece Ridge Mall and a traffic stop on West Ridge Road, with 18-year-old Dayshaun D. Wilson, a 17-year-old, and 33-year-old Matthew R. Ryan facing charges.  ABC 13
  • Rochester Police have been investigating the unsolved Flora Street murders of Carol Jemison and Christopher Jordan since 1994—if anyone has information, Crime Stoppers asks them to call (585) 423-9300.  ABC 13
  • Pretrial hearings for two suspects in Sam Nordquist’s murder case were held in Ontario County Court Tuesday to decide if their statements made before arrest or during a mental health crisis should be used—defense lawyers argued against admitting those statements. Further hearings for the remaining five suspects are scheduled later this week.  Spectrum News
  • Officials charged George and Pamela Meyer with 50 counts for failing to provide food and water and 24 counts under another animal sustenance law after 50 cats were removed from their home on Kreag Road in Perinton on August 20 — Lollypop Farm Humane Law Enforcement led the seizure.  News 10

  • The Rochester Fringe Festival will showcase TRACES with a French ice puppeteer performing at Spiegelgarden on Sept. 13 at 4pm—tickets are not required.  ABC 13

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students returned to classrooms in Monroe County yesterday as New York State enforced a bell-to-bell cellphone ban — changing daily routines.  ABC 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mayor Evans held a news conference on September 2 to outline safety plans for the new school year that include youth programs at R-Centers and automated school bus camera enforcement set to start in October. He said R-Centers will open from 2 to 9 p.m. on weekdays starting September 8 — and that traffic enforcement alongside ROC Vision Zero projects will keep students safe on Rochester roads.  Democrat & Chronicle
