- ➤ On Tuesday, volunteers at the Salvation Army filled over 500 bags with school supplies for children in need after local shoppers, businesses and community partners bought the items for the Stuff the Bus campaign. Families picked up the free supplies at Liberty Pole Way starting Monday at 10 a.m.—bags were given on a first-come, first-served basis with ID required. News 10
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Rochester police arrested 32-year-old Martin Mack for menacing an officer and stealing merchandise from the Hudson Avenue Walmart after he resisted arrest and pulled a pocketknife — an officer was injured and treated while Mack was taken into custody. NewsRadio WHAM
- ➤ Richard Robson, 39, of Rochester, was arrested Monday, Aug. 18 for a string of vehicle larcenies at a business on East Avon Road in Avon on July 28—he is charged with grand larceny and two counts of petit larceny and remains in custody due to previous felony convictions. ABC 13
- ➤ A 75-year-old man was assaulted outside a store on Culver Road on Sunday when a woman shoved him, causing a broken hip and fractured neck—he underwent surgery on Monday as surveillance footage spread online. News 10
- ➤ Rochester police said the body of an adult woman was spotted at 7:15 a.m. this morning under the Driving Park Bridge in the Genesee River—scuba teams recovered the remains and the Medical Examiner is working to identify her and determine the cause of death. NewsRadio WHAM
- ➤ Matthew Belk, 35, owner of Jackson's Bakery in Greece, was arrested on Aug. 18 for fourth-degree grand larceny and unauthorized use of a vehicle as police investigated a theft of a motor vehicle worth over $3,000 that began in July. Democrat & Chronicle
