- ➤ A small, single-engine plane crashed onto Bridge View Drive near Maplewood Park in Rochester around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday—one man died at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Democrat & Chronicle
- ➤ A 5-alarm fire broke out around 10:30 p.m. last night in the vacant Tent City building at Dewey and Lyell avenues in Rochester—threatening at least two nearby homes and sending one firefighter to the hospital as the four-story structure was being converted to apartments. NewsRadio WHAM

- ➤ Tavontay Haygood-Session, 31, faced murder charges after surveillance video showed him assaulting 46-year-old Karen Wargo on Pleasant Street on July 9—he appeared in court Friday at 9:30 a.m. and had three prior felony convictions. News 10
- ➤ On July 31, police in the 19th Ward shot and killed a man in his 30s when he drew his 9mm handgun after several minutes of questioning; the officers are on leave as city and state officials review the incident. Democrat & Chronicle
- ➤ A Batavia man, Marcos Torres, was arrested after a six month investigation into Genesee County drug activity—he sold crack cocaine to an undercover agent repeatedly, fled during a search warrant that led to a car crash in Bethany and a pursuit that ended when a K9 unit caught him after he ran into the woods, and investigators found he used narcotics at home when children were present; he now faces multiple felony charges. - ➤ Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley announced her retirement effective Aug. 31 after a state commission recommended public censure over her conduct during an April traffic stop at her Webster home — body-worn camera footage had shown her berating responding officers.
