- ➤ The Arc of Monroe opened its new training center, the Arc Advance Academy, on Tuesday to train direct support professionals for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Monroe County. The center is built with a gift from Tom Golisano and features a home-like setting—classroom space and a virtual reality lab. ABC 13

- ➤ Rochester’s West Main Gateway Project will offer grants up to $250,000 for building repairs and up to $50,000 for small business aid on West Main Street — applications are due September 19 with choices expected around October 17. The project will use $10 million in state and local funds to fix streets and historic buildings — rules require projects to follow design guidelines that keep the neighborhood’s historic look. - ➤ David Johnson, 50, pleaded guilty to assault & arson for setting his wife on fire in 2019 and will be sentenced Tuesday in Monroe County Court with a potential sentence of up to 12 years in prison. News 10
- ➤ Brighton Police are investigating a series of ATV and dirt bike thefts at Powersport and are searching for Joshua Wallace, 39 (wanted for probation violation), with a cash reward available for tips leading to his arrest. ABC 13
- ➤ Votes on a settlement offer for the Rochester Catholic Diocese sex abuse bankruptcy case were counted Tuesday, and if the federal court accepts the results, payouts to 475 survivors will begin soon. The settlement includes $55 million from the diocese and its parishes + $120 million from CNA insurance. News 10
- ➤ A Highland Hospital nurse was assaulted outside the hospital Thursday night after a call from the parking garage led staff to find her injured — police said she was treated and released while they investigate a dispute between a patient and staff. ABC 13
