- ➤ Nominations for Rochester's Community Choice Awards are open until July 21 for more than 420 local firms in 140 categories such as pet grooming and auto body, and nominators entering 25 or more categories will be eligible for a $250 gift card contest — the top five nominees in each category will move to public voting starting Sept. 8 with winners celebrated at a gala on Dec. 10. - ➤ A Rochester man, Christopher Long Jr., was convicted Tuesday of aggravated vehicular homicide, two counts of vehicular manslaughter, and DWI for a Nov. 22 crash on Interstate 490 that killed two Rochester women and injured a 19-year-old—sentencing is set for Aug. 26. ABC 13
- ➤ Christopher Long, Jr, 26, was convicted for aggravated vehicular homicide — two counts of manslaughter and driving while intoxicated charges — after a November 22 crash that killed 18-year-old Skylar Swift and 23-year-old Aleci Lopez near the Culver Road Exit on I-490; he will be sentenced on August 26. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Workforce Partnership Organization will launch a three-year pilot to provide van rides to qualified participants for job training and employment appointments in Rochester. Local colleges and workforce centers will track rider use and job placements while funding is pending from COMIDA + other sources. WXXI News

- ➤ Monroe County DA Sandra Doorley said it is time for a new DA as she prepares to step down after receiving a public censure—she berated an officer during a 2024 traffic stop. Her departure date is unclear and her office will arrange a transition before the election in 2027. WXXI News
- ➤ Rochester has partnered with Recovery Houses of Rochester to launch a pilot crisis stabilization program with $30,000 to help individuals in acute substance use and mental health crisis. The program will expand recovery housing from 34 to 58 beds and offer a 90-day support period with daily staff assistance so participants can transition to independent living. Rochester Beacon
