- ➤ An upstate sheriff urged boaters to follow safety rules after a man in his early 20s died Monday trying to rescue his girlfriend without a life vest on Great Sacandaga Lake and a person aged 21 drowned during a July 4 boating trip on Lake George—authorities recommend limiting alcohol, reducing speed, yielding to other vessels, and completing a Safe Boating Certificate course this summer. - ➤ A 28 year old former bank employee in Rochester, Damani Brown, was charged with aggravated identity theft and other fraud crimes for allegedly stealing about $477K from 12 customer accounts between July and August 2024 after the FBI linked his actions by searching Google accounts associated with the theft. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ RTS will launch a new shuttle service connecting the Hylan Drive hub near The Marketplace Mall and the VA clinic on Calkins Road starting next Monday — the bus will operate weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and costs $1 per ride, with free rides for veterans using passes. WXXI News
- ➤ Drivers on State Route 390 in Greece will face delays for most of July as the road is reduced to one lane in each direction between West Ridge Road and the Lake Ontario State Parkway for paving work expected to finish by month’s end. Northbound traffic is delayed daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. while southbound travel is affected from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting Wednesday—DOT advises using alternate routes. ABC 13
