  • The Healthy Baby Network will host its 4th annual Community Baby Shower on Sunday at the Edgerton Recreation Center on Backus Street in Rochester, where dozens of women and mothers will gather from noon to 3 p.m.—enjoying food, cake, gifts, and local resource information.  Rochester First
  • The Rochester Public Market and Great New York State Flea Market Mashups will return on Sunday, July 20 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with vendors offering bargain finds and fun for families. Future events are set through October—vendors can rent a 10 x 30 stall for $35 per day with discounts for six-day packages—and will run rain or shine.  Rochester First

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 29-year-old woman was critically injured when a 23-year-old male driver struck her while she walked near Plank Road between Jackson Road and Shoecraft Road in Penfield Saturday—she was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries as the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident.  Democrat & Chronicle
  • An 11-year-old was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital for burn injuries and two other children, ages 8 and 14, were hospitalized for smoke inhalation after a house fire on Rolfe Street in Palmyra on Sunday evening + fire departments from Palmyra, Village of Palmyra, and Macedon and New York State Police responded while investigators examine the cause.  ABC 13
  • A woman was critically injured after being hit by a car on Saturday at 10:30 p.m. on Plank Road near Jackson Road in Penfield—officials said the driver is not facing charges.  News 10

CRIME NEWS

  • Two Rochester men were charged with assault after a domestic fight on Austin Street near Lyell Avenue on July 6 — one man suffered a laceration and the other received bruising and scrapes, with both transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where their injuries were not life-threatening.  ABC 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Hochul announced that nearly 3 million eligible homeowners will receive STAR tax relief with benefits ranging from about $350 to $600 and up to $1,500 for seniors & those using direct deposit will see their checks starting next week while others notice the savings on their tax bills between the end of June and mid-July in Rochester and other areas.  Democrat & Chronicle
  • The city of Rochester is accepting bids to build the final phase of Roc City Skatepark—this phase will add 13,000 square feet of skateable space and street-oriented features under the Frederick Douglass-Susan B. Anthony Bridge with groundbreaking planned this fall and skating set to open in fall 2026.  WXXI News
