  • Chuck E. Cheese launched its new arcade, Chuck’s Arcade, at Eastview Mall, marking one of nine such openings this summer and offering classic games such as Ms. Pac-Man and Mortal Kombat—its expansion will lead to more planned locations in the future.  Rochester First

CRIME NEWS

  • Rochester man Byron Bell Junior, 38, pleaded guilty to manslaughter last September and was sentenced to 13 years in prison after tracking 18-year-old Ja'hod Snow via GPS and shooting him near Laser Street and Joseph Avenue in June 2023 — Snow stole Bell's wife's car and later crashed into a utility pole, dying at the scene.  NewsRadio WHAM
  • The owner of Jackson’s Bakery in Greece was arrested Saturday, June 28 in Ontario County—charged with possession of stolen property and unlicensed operation—and the bakery had been closed after major health violations were found.  Democrat & Chronicle
  • A 60-year-old man was shot on Pioneer Street near Genesee Park Boulevard in the 19th Ward on Thursday morning and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital just before 8 a.m.—he is expected to survive as police have no suspects and are investigating the incident.  News 10

CULTURE NEWS

  • Rochester will host its 39th annual Carifest on Aug. 9 to celebrate Caribbean pride and culture. The festival begins with an 11 a.m. parade on Main Street and runs from 1–8 p.m. at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park—featuring live music, cultural shows, food, and vendors.  Democrat & Chronicle
