  • Community members held a protest Saturday at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center to demand that the Greenridge crypto-mining facility in Geneva shut down after its permit was denied in 2022. Organizers, including (local officials, Earthjustice, and the National Coalition Against Cryptomining), said the plant uses 139 million gallons of Seneca Lake water (raising lake temperatures and hurting water quality) while mining bitcoin.  Rochester First

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Law enforcement officers along with forest rangers, environmental conservation police, and the Ontario County Sheriff are searching for the driver of a car that left the road on County Road 37 between Middle Road and Holmes Road in Canadice early Saturday morning—officials recovered the vehicle and closed the road while they continue to check the driver’s welfare.  ABC 13

  • Erica Fee was appointed to the New York State Council on the Arts by Governor Kathy Hochul—she will serve a five-year term and vote on cultural service grants statewide.  News 10

  • New AI-powered hearing aids are enhancing conversations by isolating voices and cutting background noise so people can hear clearly.   • Health experts in Rochester have seen more young people diagnosed with cancer as screening ages lower and changes in diet and gut bacteria may be factors — one survivor urged anyone with symptoms to get checked immediately.
