ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday around 9 a.m., a large fire broke out at Brockport High School on Allen Street and emergency crews including the Brockport Fire District & Brockport Police Department & Monroe Ambulance responded as details remained limited and the cause was unknown. Rochester First
- ➤ A fire destroyed a maintenance building at Brockport High School on June 14 at 9:00 a.m. as firefighters responded quickly and contained the blaze—officials said the building and its grounds equipment were a total loss and the cause remains under investigation. ABC 13
- ➤ A fire damaged the Brockport Central School District maintenance building next to the stadium on Saturday morning — equipment was destroyed and several fire companies responded — with no injuries reported. News 10

- ➤ A 70-year-old man died early Saturday morning after a possible hit-and-run on South Union Street and Canfield Place when the incident occurred around 2:15 a.m.—Rochester police are investigating the case and urging anyone with information to call 911. News 10
- ➤ Rochester Police said a hit-and-run overnight Saturday (at S Union Street and Canfield Place) struck a 70-year-old man who was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and died shortly after arriving, and the Major Crimes Unit is investigating (anyone with information is urged to call 911). - ➤ Monroe One BOCES has partnered with Lollypop Farm to offer a Small Animal Care and Handling course that gives students hands-on training at the shelter—where they clean, feed and care for various animals. - ➤ Early voting is underway in Rochester as mayoral candidates answered local questions at a Town Hall hosted by News 8—discussing public safety, sanctuary status and economic growth ahead of Primary Day on June 24. Incumbent Mayor Malik Evans, Councilmember Mary Lupien and business owner Shashi Ranjan Sinha participated with community groups including the League of Women Voters, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Rochester City School District. - ➤ New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli warned that spending will outpace revenue in the state’s $254 billion budget for fiscal 2025-2026, saying a structural imbalance from rising costs and expected lower tax collections could hurt the state’s finances. He also criticized the rushed review process (lawmakers had less than one day to vote on key bills) and noted that heavy reliance on federal funds may leave a gap in emergency reserves.
