  • Supporters gathered at Andrews Street Bridge on Thursday to honor 5-year-old Zy'Jae St. Pierre, whose kindergarten graduation was canceled after he fell into the Genesee River on June 1 and has not been found—police continue to patrol the river between High Falls and Charlotte.  ABC 13
  • Today, Poetry in the Bowl runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Bowl in Highland Park—featuring state poet laureate Patricia Spears—and Movies with a Downtown View screens ‘Sister Act’ at Parcel 5 at 7 p.m.; on Saturday, the Finger Lakes Country Music Festival at Wayne County Fairgrounds will feature headliner Dustin Lynch along with food, craft beer, and camping, while the Strong National Museum of Play hosts a free Juneteenth celebration starting at 10:45 a.m.  News 10

CRIME NEWS

  • Two motorcyclists were hospitalized after a Ford sedan hit them at Lake Ave and Emerson Street in Rochester at 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday—police report the driver and a passenger fled on foot and the investigation is ongoing.  ABC 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • Legacy Wine Bar is teaming with trio Vibrant Strings for a Juneteenth celebration — DJ Sight and owner Ebony Smart will lead live music — as the event will be held on State Street, and doors will open at 7 p.m. on Juneteenth.  ABC 13
  • The Louis B. Mayer Conservation Center in Rochester preserves the original negatives and nitrate films of The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind so that these classic films can be seen as they were originally made—an effort that protects a key part of 20th-century film art.  ABC 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Monroe County Board of Elections reminded voters that early voting starts this Saturday and runs through June 22 — Primary Election Day is on Tuesday, June 24. Commissioners noted that seven polling locations will be open and advised residents to check their verification mail for details on new voting machines.  Rochester First
  • Incumbent Malik Evans leads his challengers Mary Lupien and Shashi Sinha in the mayoral primary by raising $321,751 before early voting starts tomorrow — Lupien gathered nearly 650 small donations and Sinha is mostly self-funded with a $350,000 loan as the candidates gear up for the June 24 election.  Rochester Beacon
