  • On Saturday, the intersection of Avenue D and Hollenbeck Street in the El Camino neighborhood received a safety makeover as residents worked with street architects to improve pavement markings and add traffic control features+ project manager Lourdes Sharp said planners also installed benches and planted flowers to help calm traffic+.  News 10

  • Rochester police are investigating a suspicious death after a man in his 60s was found dead in an upstairs apartment on Costar Street near Dewey Avenue Sunday afternoon at 1:45 p.m.—authorities ask anyone with information to call the provided numbers.  ABC 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • Pat Searles celebrated turning 90 last week in Canandaigua and sings 'God Bless America' every day just before noon. She has performed the song for five years—she has no plans on stopping her tradition.  Rochester First

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Brighton Police Department is launching Speed Awareness Week today and will boost patrols through June 15 to lower speed-related crashes. Officers note that speeding was behind 31 percent of fatal crashes last year — a key factor driving the campaign.  Rochester First

  • Hundreds of guests in all-white outfits attended Trillium Health’s annual White Party fundraiser on Saturday at Mercantile on Main, where funds raised supported the center’s mission to end the HIV epidemic and help those with AIDS.
