- ➤ Avon’s former police chief Joseph Geer pleaded guilty to stealing federal funds by billing for unworked school resource officer hours and was sentenced to two years probation by Judge Wolford—he repaid the full amount of $6,866.84. Geer, a Caledonia resident who was suspended without pay before resigning, was replaced by Robert Tygart as chief in March. Democrat & Chronicle
- ➤ Rochester police charged a 23-year-old man with first-degree manslaughter and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon after he fatally shot Delwin Aponte-Charbonier at a Ward Street home last week—detectives recovered a .40 caliber handgun, three loaded high-capacity magazines, and additional evidence while the suspect, who turned himself in with his attorney on Thursday, is scheduled for arraignment Friday at 9:30 a.m. with further charges possible by a Monroe County grand jury.
