  • News 8 provided a list of many events this weekend in Rochester, including the Memorial Art Gallery’s Art and Treasures Sale running Friday through Sunday with set hours, Fairport Canal Days beginning Friday evening, and an upcoming U-Pick Strawberry season. The schedule also features the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk and Run at Monroe Community College on Saturday, free rowing lessons at the Genesee Waterways Center, the Spencerport Firemen’s Carnival from Wednesday through Saturday, the Rochester Real Beer Expo at Innovative Field on Saturday, Trillium Health’s White Party at Mercantile on Friday, and community garage sales with Pittsford Pride on Sunday.  Rochester First

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Rochester Police are searching the Genesee River for five-year-old Zy’Jae St. Pierre, who fell from a stroller on Sunday using scuba teams and sonar while RG&E lowered water levels to aid the search. Community members have set up memorials and some are calling for the Andrews Street Bridge—where the fall occurred—to be renamed, and police warn of unapproved fundraising accounts.  News 10
  • Rochester police continue to search for 5-year-old Zy'Jae St. Pierre, who fell from the Andrew Street Bridge into the Genesee River on June 1, as scuba teams worked near High Falls—community members tied balloons and stuffed animals to the bridge to honor him.  Democrat & Chronicle

CRIME NEWS

  • Roger Wiggins, a Rochester man, was convicted of second-degree murder for stabbing his ex-girlfriend Tracy Henton-Williams in June 2018 in a car in Gates—he will be sentenced next month.  NewsRadio WHAM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Finger Lakes Community College’s commencement on May 17, two students, three faculty and two staff were awarded the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence—recognizing their contributions in academics and service. Misty J. Hall and Nessa Gonzo Gonzalez led the student group while faculty and staff winners were honored for their roles in advancing college programs.  Democrat & Chronicle

HEALTH NEWS

  • On June 5, fundraisers were honored at the Rochester Yacht Club for raising over $1,000 for the American Diabetes Association. Bruce Reisdorf said he rides his bike to help research a cure for diabetes — the Tour de Cure bike ride will happen on Saturday with 13WHAM sponsoring the event.  ABC 13
