COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Genesee Park Seventh-Day Adventist Church held its quarterly community day on Sunday afternoon at its pantry, serving food, clothing, and shoes to local residents, and pantry coordinator Sherrita Hope said the event helped neighbors connect with local support.  News 10

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Workers at Mango Cannabis in Henrietta began contract negotiations after their union was officially recognized on March 31 (seeking improved job security, benefits and enhanced safety measures). This marks the second local cannabis dispensary to unionize in the area.  Rochester Beacon

CULTURE NEWS

  • Daystar Dance, Commotion Dance Theater and Coffee Stain Dance Theater will present a series of dance shows at the Multi-Use Community Cultural Center this week. The performances will honor local artists and diverse cultures, with shows scheduled for June 4, June 6 and June 7, including a family-friendly matinee.  Rochester Beacon
  • Company Theatre of Rochester presents 'A Streetcar Named Desire' from June 5 to 21 at 28 Lawn Street. The Saturday, June 20 performance — featuring ASL interpretation — gives audiences a chance to see a timeless play in a fresh production.  FOX Rochester
  • Arc of Monroe revives Dancing with the Arc, featuring local participant Stephannie Joseph, at ESL Ballpark (starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 4).  FOX Rochester

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The state DOT announced lane closures from the left lane and shoulder on the I-390 south ramp to I-490 east in Gates for bridge maintenance. Drivers are advised to expect delays and choose alternate routes as work continues until the end of June.  Democrat & Chronicle

HEALTH NEWS

  • Elissa Strassman from ARC Rochester discussed safe outdoor eating (Monday, Jun. 1) as summer approaches, offering locals practical guidance to enjoy meals outdoors safely.  ABC 13
  • A severe shortage of nursing home beds is delaying transfers from local hospitals and forcing families to choose between low-rated care or eviction risks. Regional social workers are working to secure safer placements amid ongoing capacity challenges.  News 10
  • A fire on May 30 forced the temporary closure of Red Creek Cardiology at 600 Red Creek Drive in Henrietta (the automatic sprinkler system held the fire in check and no injuries were reported). Patients are asked to call (585) 341-6780 as appointments are rescheduled.  Democrat & Chronicle
