  • Free the People ROC celebrated its 5-year anniversary at MLK Lodge in MLK Park today — the group, which began after Daniel Prude’s death, now focuses on mutual aid by helping people avoid evictions and find safe housing. Organizers urge the community to support its evolving advocacy efforts.  News 10
  • A fundraiser was held Saturday afternoon at First Responders Park in Rochester to support the Joe Manuse Residential Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Foundation, which honors fallen Gates Firefighter Joseph Manuse who died in September 2019. Established in October 2019, the foundation raises funds and offers discounts on alarms to ensure Monroe and Ontario County fire departments have access to life-saving devices — a lasting tribute to Manuse’s dedication.  Rochester First

  • Police in Greece are searching for 66-year-old Mary Krieger — last seen leaving her residence yesterday driving a 2019 gray Nissan Sentra with New York license plate BYB9387 — after she was reported missing.  ABC 13
  • Yesterday, a search party gathered at Turning Point Park to look for 50-year-old Jared Oswald of Charlotte—who went missing on May 19 and was last seen leaving a home on Harding Road as police said he was in danger.  Rochester First

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Saturday, May 31, local groups 50501 Rochester and Jefferies Investment Bank held a protest at Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport to demand that Avelo Airlines end its collaboration with ICE—organizers urged Monroe County leaders to condemn the airline and reconsider funding support. This protest was one of several held across the country to push local officials to enforce Sanctuary City Policy.  Rochester First
  • Last Friday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Webster honored police officer Jamieson Ritter—a Webster native killed in the line of duty last July while serving in Cleveland—and Lakefront Lodge in Webster Park was renamed Jamieson Ritter Memorial Lodge to honor his service.  News 10

  • URMC held its Stroll for Strong Kids on Saturday morning at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester where dozens of supporters, families, and teams ran a 5k race and enjoyed activities before the walk began at 10:30 a.m. The fundraiser's proceeds will support Golisano Children’s Hospital programs for children receiving care.  Rochester First
