  • Rochester police and family members searched Turning Point Park after Jared Oswald, 50, went missing from a home on Harding Road in Charlotte on May 19—authorities fear he may be in danger.  Democrat & Chronicle
  • Police arrested a 20-year-old Rochester man on Monday for an intentional hit-and-run on Denise Road near North Shore Townhomes that injured a 29-year-old woman and caused another pedestrian to complain of pain—investigators say the case remains active.  Democrat & Chronicle

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mount Hope World Singers are partnering with visual artists and composers to offer an immersive performance titled 'The Hundred Windows' that blends music, visual art and sound design. The show — led by conductor Brian White and RIT assistant professor of animation Christine Banna — will take place on June 5 and 7 at Rochester Academy of Medicine.  ABC 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and local community leaders met on May 27 in Rochester to warn that GOP cuts to SNAP—supported by a House bill passed on May 22—will cut benefits for over 150,000 kids, seniors and families. The proposal would reduce SNAP benefits to about $5 per day per person and add tougher work requirements, worsening food insecurity in the region.  Democrat & Chronicle

  • Rochester will host 26 food events this summer, starting with today's food truck rodeos at the Public Market and continuing with festivals like the Annunciation Rochester Greek Festival and Lao-Thai Summer Food Festival at local venues — each event offering food, live music and hands-on activities for the community.
