  • On May 15, Rochester restaurateur Evangela Stanley was honored by Salute to Heroes with a surprise gift—a new car—in recognition of her kindness and support for the community. She said she was overwhelmed by the gesture and will keep helping local families with support from the YMCA.  ABC 13

  • Li-Cycle, the firm building a $700 million lithium-ion battery recycling hub at Eastman Business Park, filed for bankruptcy after halting construction in September 2023 - an affiliate of Glencore Canada Corporation made a $40 million credit bid for certain assets including the Rochester project.  News 10

CRIME NEWS

  • Devontae Jones, a 27-year-old man, was indicted on gun trafficking charges after shipping illegal machine guns from Georgia to Rochester—authorities said the ATF began investigating him in February 2024 and bought 20 firearms, including four machine guns, between February and May 2024 while he now faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.  News 10
  • The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help finding 41-year-old Lauren Nicolosi, last seen at 5 p.m. Thursday at her home in Henrietta—she was reported wearing all-black clothing and driving a black 2020 Subaru Forester with license plate KAX5208.  News 10
  • The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is looking for 17-year-old Randall Stott who was last seen Thursday morning at his Henrietta home (he is 6’0″ tall, with short brown hair, hazel eyes, and weighs about 140 lbs, wearing a white shirt and pajama pants).  News 10

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local musicians, artists, and dancers showcased their talents at the sold-out event at Harro East Ballroom on Wednesday night—featuring 11 art forms from painting to ballet. The Rochester Area Community Foundation organized the show to support local arts amid funding challenges and plans to continue it in future years.  News 10
