  • Officials and Visit Rochester unveiled plans on May 6 for the America 250 Celebration (a free event spotlighting local history and baseball) which will be held at ESL Ballpark on July 12. Residents can join in to honor America’s heritage this summer.  ABC 13
  • Rochester will host its 24th annual Dachshund Parade on Saturday, May 9 from 10 to noon at Washington Square Park & parade co-chair Alan Frost, with his dog Archie leading the procession.  ABC 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • Blackfriars Theatre is ending its season with a production of the Tony Award-winning musical Parade that recounts the 1913 trial of Leo Frank. The play will run from May 8 to 24 at Blackfriars Theatre.  ABC 13
  • Chris Lopez celebrated Cinco de Mayo by visiting local favorite Neno's Gourmet Mexican Street Food (642 Monroe Avenue) on May 5, marking a festive nod to the holiday.  FOX Rochester
  • The I'm Still Standing summit for women will celebrate strength, faith and resilience as host Tamesha Beckford and guest speaker Lauren Coe prepared details at ARC Rochester on Wednesday. The expo will be held Sunday, May 17 at Village Gate Square — an inspiring event aimed at empowering local women.  ABC 13
  • On Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, the Landmark Society of Western New York will host its annual House+Garden Tour in Charlotte Lakeside. Visitors will explore curated homes, gardens, the Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse, and Dentzel Menagerie Carousel from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with general admission at $38.  News 10
