  • Emmy Award-winning comedian John Mulaney will perform his new stand-up comedy tour John Mulaney: Mister Whatever on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. at CMAC, and presale tickets go on sale today at 10 a.m. regular tickets will start Friday, April 25 at 10 a.m.  Democrat & Chronicle
  • Gateways Music Festival returned Monday at Hatch Recital Hall at Eastman School of Music to celebrate Black classical artistry. The festival - rooted in the Rochester community - will feature performances Tuesday, today, and Thursday at local venues, including recitals, a brass collective, and a community conversation.  ABC 13

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sabrina Bhalla became one of the few Eagle Scouts to earn all 139 merit badges—a rare feat reached by only .1% of scouts nationwide—and she recently joined ARC Rochester to share her achievement.  ABC 13

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, April 22, Highland Park hosted a walking tour (Gatehouse 2, 10–11:30 a.m.) where residents learned about Frederick Law Olmsted’s design and the role of urban green spaces. On Saturday, volunteers will help plant trees at Macyville Woods in Sodus Point and pot native seedlings at a nursery on Webster Road (both events run from 9–11 a.m.).  News 10

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents in North Winton Village met with Mayor Malik Evans (along with RPD Chief David Smith and Sheriff Todd Baxter) at St. John the Evangelist Church on Humboldt Street Monday night to discuss public safety. Officials addressed crime concerns and community improvement plans (including ideas for increased patrols and local programs) during the meeting.  News 10
  • Local DMV offices saw a rush as residents gather needed documents to upgrade their licenses to REAL IDs, which are required for air travel starting May 7. The deadline applies only to domestic flights, and applications will still be processed after that day—residents can also visit The Mall at Greece Ridge on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. without an appointment.  WXXI News
  • Governor Hochul addressed complaints about the new CDPAP system during her Rochester visit on Monday, saying that issues with website crashes, unreturned calls, and delayed payments emerged after the state selected Public Partnerships LLC following a bid that reviewed over 100 proposals. The governor added that some companies did not share information as required, and the Department of Health set up a hotline (1-833-947-8666) to help caregivers.  Rochester First
  • Irondequoit Town Supervisor Andrae Evans faces a removal hearing after sexual harassment allegations, with a court date set for Oct. 20 that will last about 10 days. Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley filed a petition on April 16 and Town Board members said Evans has not yet finished his required sexual harassment training—reports from 2024 claim he made improper comments toward a female employee.  News 10
