  • Rochester will see road closures on April 27 during the Flower City Challenge Half Marathon and 5K, which will host over 2,400 runners. Cortland Street at Parcel 5 will close from noon on April 26—key downtown routes will also face restrictions—so motorists should plan extra travel time.  News 10

CRIME NEWS

  • The Monroe County Sheriff's Office arrested two Rochester men in connection with a major bank robbery in Sweden last week; Michael O Shea (60) is charged with 1st-degree robbery and 2nd-degree grand larceny while John Savage (49) faces charges of robbery and grand larceny.  NewsRadio WHAM
  • Wendy Stone, 63, pleaded guilty in court to unlawfully collecting $7,902 in SSI and $1,072 in SNAP benefits — after she concealed her deceased boyfriend Kenneth Crisman's body at her Bryan Street home and used his social security number to open a debit card that was emptied within 10 days.  ABC 13
  • A 15-year-old from Rochester was arrested on Wednesday during a traffic stop after a shooting on April 14 on Webster Avenue that wounded two boys aged 12 and 17—he now faces charges of second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon and is held on $10,000 cash bail.  ABC 13
  • A Rochester man identified as Randloff Scott, 60, was arrested after a shooting and standoff late Tuesday night at a multi-family home on Norton Street—police said he fired a shotgun through a door at an officer and now faces charges including second-degree attempted murder, five counts of attempted aggravated murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of stolen property.  Democrat & Chronicle

  • Mayor Malik D. Evans announced a new round of ArtsBloom funding for arts projects—local artists and small organizations must submit proposals in arts education, literary arts, performing arts or visual arts by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, May 11. FINANCE NEWS

  • Rochester Beacon raised more than $21,000 in individual donations during Nov 1 through Dec 31 and later received an extra $19,500 in matching funds to support nonprofit news. The campaign marked the sixth straight year the Beacon surpassed its goal in the nationwide NewsMatch drive—bolstered by over 160 local donors.  Rochester Beacon
