Mendon Town Board and Town Supervisor John Moffit are demanding Highway Superintendent Andrew Caschetta resign after an internal investigation sustained allegations that he sexually harassed and retaliated against staff—town officials reported that his conduct led to multiple resignations and now plan to reduce his authority.

A Rochester man, 33-year-old Johnkiomi Ruiz, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after he was convicted of assault and gun crimes from a June 2023 shooting on Lake Avenue near Ravine Avenue — prosecutors said he hunted his victim down and shot him in the back, leaving him with life-altering injuries — in a case that has drawn strong community attention.
