ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A person died on Tuesday morning when a vehicle hit a pedestrian on Scottsville Road near Mile Wood Road around 1 a.m.—Monroe County sheriff’s deputies closed the road for an investigation before it reopened.  News 10
  • Rochester Regional Health confirmed that renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Michael Groff, his wife, son, daughter, and two others died when a twin-engine plane crashed on Saturday, April 12—just before landing at Columbia County airport—while investigators review if weather played a role and funeral arrangements are pending.  NewsRadio WHAM
  • One motorcyclist died and another was critically injured in a crash on Sunday afternoon on Lake Avenue when a Toyota sedan turned left into a local business and struck two northbound motorcycles, with the sedan driver and his passenger treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries while Rochester police continue investigating and urge anyone with information to come forward.  Democrat & Chronicle

  • Two teens were injured in a shooting on Bay Street Monday evening and were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as police investigated multiple calls — no suspect is in custody.  ABC 13

  • The Rochester Music Hall of Fame inducted its Class of 2025 Sunday night at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre — the ceremony honored the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Black Sheep, guitarist Chet Catallo, keyboardist John Fossitt, Travie McCoy with Gym Class Heroes and The Record Archive.  ABC 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Housing advocates rallied in Rochester and across the state to push for a rental subsidy bill that would offer vouchers to families at risk of homelessness. Legislators are expected in Albany today to review a $250 million funding request—supporters claim the program will bring immediate relief while critics say its costs may rise over time.  Rochester Beacon

  • Highland Hospital will host a nursing job fair on April 30 at the Jackrabbit Club on Anderson Avenue from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. to help close the gap between many nursing job openings and the number of new nurses entering the workforce.  Rochester First
  • Today the New York State Department of Health defends adding fluoride at levels recommended by the US Public Health Service to prevent tooth decay; Dr. James McDonald said that safe levels are continuously monitored while lawmakers remain divided as Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F.
