  • On Sunday, the Rochester River Run/Walk 5K took place at Genesee Valley Park where hundreds ran along the Genesee River starting at 10:30 a.m. to raise funds for transplant patients and living donors at Strong Memorial Hospital—award presentations began at 11:30 a.m. followed by a donor remembrance ceremony at 11:45 a.m.  Rochester First

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Rochester doctor—Dr. Michael Groff—and his family were among six killed when a plane crashed in an agricultural field in Copake on April 12, and authorities confirmed that his daughter Karenna, her boyfriend James Santoro, and Karenna’s mother Dr. Joy Saini also died.  ABC 13

FINANCE NEWS

  • The New York Lottery confirmed that three third-prize Powerball tickets, each worth $50,000, were sold for the April 12 drawing—one ticket was sold at Wegmans on Lyell Avenue in Gates and the other two were bought in Oswego and Central Islip.  ABC 13

  • On Saturday, a forum addressing teen mental health and substance abuse took place at School of the Arts from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for young people 12—21, where participants discussed social media impact, the link between mental and physical health, and the need to speak up following a recent student tragedy.  News 10
  • Families, doulas, and community health advocates gathered Saturday at Marketplace Mall during Black Maternal Health Week—an effort to address longstanding disparities in care for Black birthing individuals.
