- ➤ Brighton is hosting a field day on Sunday, May 3 that lets residents test their strength under fire chief Steven MacAdam and volunteer firefighters Alannah Scardino and Lauren Cybul — an event planned with ARC Rochester. FOX Rochester
- ➤ Rochester’s Wilmot Cancer Institute kicked off registration on Monday for the Wilmot Warrior Weekend, a walk, run & bike race paired with a bonus spin class and celebration party planned for Sept. 19 and 20 in Webster. All funds raised will support cancer research. News 10

- ➤ Gas prices in New York rose to $4.07 per gallon, with Rochester averaging $4.04, according to AAA. Crude oil costs remain high (between $108 and $109 per barrel) and increased Easter travel is expected to drive demand. Democrat & Chronicle

- ➤ Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County seeks volunteers for a master gardener program teaching sustainable horticulture. - ➤ Heavy rains raised the Genesee River, and Mount Morris Dam held the water for 48 hours to prevent flooding while it released some water last night and opened another gate today near Mount Morris. Democrat & Chronicle
- ➤ A landslide on Carlsam Drive in Irondequoit has grown since Saturday and is causing homeowners to lose yard space and worry about a nearby telephone pole and leaning trees + the Monroe County Soil and Water District will visit the site this week. News 10

- ➤ Local leaders support a bill (S.2057A/A.2054A) that will ban toxic chemicals from personal care products to help lower cancer risks, and the measure must pass both houses before the session ends in June. It is a step toward protecting our community’s health. Rochester Beacon

- ➤ More than 3.1 million bottles of eye drops sold at Walgreens, CVS, and other stores are recalled after K.C. Pharmaceuticals said the products may not be sterile.
