EDUCATION NEWS

  • Families in the Rochester City School District attended the annual Family and Community Engagement Forum at Loretta Johnson Middle School on Genesee Street — they learned about district programs, met incoming superintendent Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, and took part in resource fairs and interactive workshops. Older students also joined a Teen Summit hosted by the Student Leadership Congress where they shared ideas and learned leadership skills.  News 10
  • Students at Vertus High School gained hands-on orthopedic surgical skills during a workshop at the UR Medicine Saunders Orthopaedics and Physical Performance Center offered to disadvantaged students in Rochester—experienced surgeons taught techniques and provided mentorship opportunities for a future in medicine.  News 10

  • Over the weekend, community leaders, health professionals and youth advocates gathered at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center to work on an equitable plan to fight climate change — focusing on clean energy, food systems and mental health.
