- ➤ University of Rochester’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics has announced a multi-year $6.9 million industrial research deal with Focused Energy to address laser-plasma instabilities — a challenge that hinders fusion energy efficiency. - ➤ Rochester will see its first all-boys elementary charter school open this fall at 30 Hart Street, where students will enjoy hands-on, STEM-focused learning and small classes with two teachers per classroom. - ➤ Rochester will use $29 million to replace over 3,000 lead service lines and begin upgrades at the Hemlock water filtration plant, with a $10 million federal grant and state financing that will be forgiven after the projects complete. Rochester Beacon
