ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A jet crash at LaGuardia that killed two caused a 6:12 a.m. flight cancellation at Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport, leaving travelers rebooking flights and coping with delays as officials investigate the collision between the jet and a fire truck.  News 10

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Rochester is set to host the 4th annual Upstate Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises Conference at the Riverside Convention Center from Monday, Mar. 30 to Wednesday, Apr. 1. Director of purchasing Tymothi Howard said the event will support local business owners.  ABC 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • Broadway in Brighton returns for its fourth season at the OFC Creations Theatre Center on Winton Place in Brighton with six Broadway musicals; Hairspray runs (Sept. 24 to Oct. 11) as the opening show while season subscriptions are on sale now and single tickets will go on sale June 1.  News 10
  • Geva Theatre has unveiled its 2026-2027 season with popular musicals like A Chorus Line and Million Dollar Quartet and acclaimed dramas such as TopDog/UnderDog and Purpose. Tickets are on sale now and productions will run later this year in Rochester.  ABC 13
  • Local breweries in Rochester earned medals at the New York State Craft Beer Competition held in late February and early March. Strangebird Beer and Barrel House earned multiple awards during the event—recognized at the Brewers Conference on March 20 in Albany.  Democrat & Chronicle

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Rochester have risen by 21 cents per gallon over the past week, with the average reaching $3.791 on Monday. Lower production and reduced demand in spring are contributing to the steady climb in prices.  WXXI News

  • Monroe Community College reformed its academic schedule with a College 3.0 approach to improve student outcomes, adding 13 student success coaches and integrating gateway classes with co-requisites — the system aligns with SUNY’s Academic Momentum Campaign and builds on ideas shared at the Western New York Summit.  Rochester Beacon

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers can use the New York DMV’s recall-checking tool today to enter their VIN (on dashboards, registration, or insurance cards) and view repair instructions for open recalls, following data from 2024 showing one in five vehicles required a fix.
