ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Rochester firefighters fought two fires on the west side—one at a home on Sherman Street this morning and another at an apartment on Glenwood Avenue that went to three alarms—and one firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.  NewsRadio WHAM

CRIME NEWS

  • Rochester police arrested 19-year-old Dhymere Bailey for allegedly shooting 39-year-old Sandra Blanding near a vacant lot at Spencer Street and Lyell Avenue on March 19th; he attempted to flee and was found carrying a loaded handgun (he is set to be arraigned today in Rochester City Court).  ABC 13
  • Dennis D. Keyser, 61, was charged with animal cruelty and neglect after neighbors found his 12-year-old Jack Russell, Louie, abandoned outside his Canandaigua home where trash and a strong odor indicated poor care—he is set to appear in town court.  ABC 13
  • A 30-year-old man was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon after he shot a man in his 50s multiple times on Sherman Street and Lyell Avenue just before 10 a.m. on Feb 18—Rochester police arrested Kalil Walker on Karnes Street on Thursday and he was arraigned in Rochester City Court on Friday.  News 10

CULTURE NEWS

  • ARC Rochester presented a reimagined version of 'The Princess and the Pea' at West Irondequoit Performing Arts—director Marc Falco and performers Olivia Croll and Emma Jane Chalone took part in Friday's show. The performance is scheduled for today at 7 p.m. and will return tomorrow at 2 p.m.  ABC 13

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Micron Technology submitted an environmental report for its proposed chipmaking plant in Clay, putting the project on track to break ground in November. The 1,400-acre complex will employ 9,000 workers and create 40,000 spinoff jobs—one of the largest developments in state history.  News 10

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Brooks Avenue underpass near Rochester airport will be closed for about three weeks in late April for road construction—detour signs will be posted by Gates Police Department and after the 4th of July holiday the road will close again for at least six weeks for further improvements.  Rochester First
