  • Rochester Home and Garden Show returns this weekend at the Riverside Convention Center. The event runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with tickets at $10 for adults (free for kids 12 and under).  News 10
  • The Barthelmes family launched the Thompson Trolley at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua on March 17 to deliver toys, snacks and drinks to pediatric patients (inspired by their late daughter Maddie); volunteers from Ronald McDonald House, Rochester will staff the trolley in emergency and surgical care areas.  Democrat & Chronicle

  • The Equinox Jam Fundraiser Concert will take place Saturday, Mar. 21 from 6 to 11 p.m. at The Historic German House on Gregory Street (benefiting Rochester Ecology Partners).  ABC 13
  • Students at Irondequoit High present The Hello Girls, a drama about the first women in the U.S. Army, at the high school auditorium on March 19, 20 and 21 at 7 p.m. and on March 22 at 2 p.m.  FOX Rochester
  • Fairport native Lucas West, a SUNY Fredonia senior, advanced to the knockout round on NBC's The Voice after coach John Legend saved him in the battle round, and he will soon pick his song for the upcoming challenge.  News 10
  • Irondequoit High students will present 'The Hello Girls,' a drama about the first women who served as switchboard operators in the U.S. Army during World War I, at their auditorium on Mar. 19, 20, and 21 at 7 p.m. and on Mar. 22 at 2 p.m.  ABC 13

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Rising fuel costs are pushing Rochester travelers to rethink spring break plans as gas prices spike nearly 20 percent and jet fuel more than doubles, raising travel expenses today. Local shops like Costco report sharper price jumps amid the escalating Iran war.  News 10

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Monroe County resumed naturalization ceremonies Tuesday morning after a federal pause linked to a change in statute interpretation, welcoming 18 new citizens — some of whom waited over 20 years for this moment.  News 10
  • Governor Hochul criticized federal leaders amid a 62-cent rise in gas prices since Feb. 28 as diesel now costs over $5 per gallon (data from the Energy Research and Development Authority). WGRB reporter Olivia Jaquith provided this update from ARC Rochester via Zoom.  FOX Rochester

HEALTH NEWS

  • Monroe County health commissioner Marielena Vélez de Brown said last Monday during National Poison Prevention Week that medications must be stored up, away, and out of sight (ideally in locked cabinets) to avoid exposure. Health officials advised disposing of unused drugs at ecoparks, police stations, or pharmacies to reduce misuse.  WXXI News
