- ➤ Today, Rochester hosts the St. Patrick’s Day Parade along a downtown route beginning at 12:30 p.m. with bands, dancers & floats. - ➤ The Ancient Order of Hibernians, an Irish fraternity serving local Catholics for nearly 200 years, is hosting its annual St. Patrick's Day party today at the Hyatt Regency Grand Ballroom. ABC 13

- ➤ The town of Greece is asking residents to nominate a 12th-grade student for the Jerry J. Helfer Youth Engagement Scholarship, which honors leadership and service with a $2,000 award and a $500 runner-up prize. Nominations must be submitted by May 22. WXXI News
- ➤ RCSD officials met Thursday night at Virgil I. Grissom Elementary School on Bryan Street to discuss new improvements under receivership for School No. 7, which has struggled with state literacy and math standards, including more staff training and a community engagement team. News 10
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ New York State will enforce its annual spring burn ban starting Monday, Mar. 16 through May 14 to prevent wildfires by prohibiting the burning of brush, trash, and other materials (small campfires and ceremonial fires under specific conditions are allowed). - ➤ The New York State Senate and Assembly proposed a counter-budget that allocates $4 million for Garth Fagan Dance, $300,000 for the Ibero-American Action League, $23 million for the Inner Loop redevelopment project and $375,000 for Lifespan. - ➤ New York lawmakers debated cost concerns under the state's Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act as deadlines loom over green energy goals. On Friday, legislators requested Governor Hochul reconvene the Climate Action Council while local resident Ed Kohlmeier noted that gradual green investments are essential & cost-effective. News 10

- ➤ A new report from No Kid Hungry New York shows many locals, especially families with children, are taking on debt to cover grocery bills.
