  • The 30th annual 'Tails of Hope' Telethon raised over $450,000 to support Lollypop Farm—its Saturday night conclusion in Henrietta marked a successful fundraiser for the community.  ABC 13
  • Protesters gathered outside Lollypop Farm in Fairport on Saturday calling for stronger animal protections after recent freezing weather left dogs unprotected in Rochester. They urged the creation of an animal cruelty task force while the farm said it operates under state law and is working to improve its practices.  News 10

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Hoochenanny Festival is moving from Irondequoit to Perinton and will run from Aug. 14 through Sunday, Aug. 16. The three-day event will feature live music, food, whiskey tastings, and craft beverages (its third year) to boost local business connections.  ABC 13
  • The University of Rochester YellowJackets a cappella group performed on Saturday at Hochstein Performance Hall with Princeton students joining for a lively local showcase of music.  ABC 13

  • Pittsford Mendon and Greece Athena met in the Section V Class AA2 championship at Blue Cross Arena on Saturday, March 7. Pittsford Mendon led 43-32 at halftime as both teams competed for the title.  Democrat & Chronicle
  • Mercy won the Section V Class A final against Honeoye Falls-Lima on Saturday, March 7 at Finger Lakes Community College + earning its first section title since 2017 and 11th overall with a buzzer-beating basket that sealed a 54-35 win.  Democrat & Chronicle
  • Penfield and Victor faced off in the Section V Class AA1 boys basketball championship at Blue Cross Arena yesterday at 9 a.m. The defending Penfield Patriots looked to maintain their edge — Victor aimed for its second title in three seasons.  Democrat & Chronicle
  • Monroe rallied in the final quarter to edge Wayne 49 to 47 in the Section V Class A boys basketball sectional final at Blue Cross Arena on Saturday, March 7. Local fans celebrated the championship clincher + the hard-fought victory.  Democrat & Chronicle
  • Fairport beat defending champion Rush-Henrietta 77-43 in the Section V Class AAA boys basketball final yesterday at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester - the team celebrated with a championship brick to mark the win.  Democrat & Chronicle
