  • Kodak in Rochester is expanding its pharmaceutical portfolio by introducing four new products that include variations of phosphate buffered saline and water for injection - key ingredients used in lab research. CEO Jim Continenza said the move marks a milestone in the company’s long-term plan.  News 10

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Susan B. Anthony Museum will celebrate 80 years on Feb. 11 and unveil plans for an expansion; museum president Allison Hinman said the event will mark a historic transition for the institution.  FOX Rochester

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Jan. 22, DEC crews responded near Court Street Bridge when a fuel oil company mistakenly spilled about 170 gallons of diesel into a drainpipe that reached the Genesee River. The agency will investigate the drainpipe since moving water, unstable ice, and weather have delayed cleanup.  Spectrum News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New York has expanded its child tax credit for families filing a state tax return during this tax season so that eligible parents can get up to $1,000 per child under 4 plus $330 per child ages 4 to 16, with low-income households now fully covered.  Democrat & Chronicle
  • Monroe County Sheriff’s Office uses a state-of-the-art center (RIOC) to monitor interstates and 911 calls during winter storms, providing real-time data for first responders today. The system, the only one in upstate New York, helps officials prioritize emergencies during heavy snowfall.  Spectrum News
  • Governor Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday that $8.5 million is available from the Food and Fiber Processing Grant Program to boost local food and animal fiber processing operations. The funds — from the Farm and Food Growth Fund — will support facility upgrades and production expansion.  News 10

  • Developers plan to rebuild Gardner's Lofts on the former Tent City site near Dewey and Lyell starting late summer after a fire damaged most of the complex. The project will offer 88 apartments, 6,400 sqft of retail and commercial space, and an outdoor amenity area (memorial, flagpole, and seating).  WXXI News

  • Rochester native Dylan Walczyk has qualified for Team USA and will compete in freestyle skiing at the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina starting Feb. 6. The 32-year-old, who placed 16th in moguls at Beijing in 2022, aims to build on his Olympic experience.  News 10
