- ➤ Fairport Brewing Company hosted Snow Jam 26 on Saturday to support Dimitri House by collecting socks and canned goods for people facing food insecurity. Volunteers met high demand after feeding about 1,500 people last month. News 10
- ➤ First Baptist Church of Penfield hosted a flapjack benefit breakfast Saturday morning to support the Penfield Coalition for Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity. The event raised funds for four Habitat homes already underway with two more in progress. News 10

- ➤ Local print shop Screen Printing by Bauers is set to print 3,000 to 4,000 AFC Championship shirts if the Bills win this weekend. Owner Nicole Bauer said her team, now contracted for the third time, will start printing immediately after the win. News 10

- ➤ Rehearsals took place Friday for the Rochester Community MLK Choir’s performance as part of the MLK Junior Songfest at Kodak Hall on Saturday. The concert featured about 100 adults and 10 to 12 youth performers. ABC 13
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, Jan. 17, the Mobile Museum of Tolerance hosted its 'Educate to Empower' workshop at East Irondequoit Middle School (interactive lessons on intolerance helped students explore both past and modern examples and consider moral courage). The workshop aimed to encourage respectful dialogue among middle schoolers. ABC 13

- ➤ Caroline Payne, a 15-year-old with mitochondrial disease, shows resilience in school and cheer while wearing her signature pink sparkly sneakers (a nod to her bright spirit) as her family supports local families by raising over $55,000 through an annual race during Mitochondrial Awareness Week. - ➤ Story of Hope Comfort Care Home opened its doors Saturday at 813 Marshall Road in Chili. The facility offers end-of-life care and was built after a destructive 2023 flood + it is fully funded by donations and staffed by trained volunteers and hospice nurses. News 10

- ➤ The Rochester Knighthawks honored local Blue Jays star Ernie Clement during a Saturday practice at their home facility. The Brighton High School graduate signed autographs, swapped jerseys with teammate Ryan Lanchbury, and performed the ceremonial faceoff before a game at Blue Cross Arena against the Toronto Rock.
