- ➤ Monroe County Winterfest 2026 is scheduled for Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mendon Ponds Park, where wagon rides will start along with appearances by Rochester Red Wings mascots and an interactive musical performance with Mister Green; hot cocoa races will begin at 10 a.m. from Stewart Lodge. - ➤ Mamitas Mexican Cuisine opened Jan. 13 at 7:38 a.m. at 1778 Penfield Road in the former Guacamole Tacos & Margaritas building. Owner Mauricio Hernandez tailored the menu with local favorites like birria braised beef and offers Taco Tuesday homemade corn tortillas, with plans to open the outdoor patio in summer. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Rochester Broadway Theatre League finished phase one renovations for Project Restouration and reopened all three main entrances at West Herr Performing Arts Center ahead of Broadway show Spamalot (Jan. 13-18). Plans for phase two include expanding the Rothschild Lounge and updating Cathedral Hall. News 10
- ➤ The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester announced its new exhibit, Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body, which will open on Saturday, Jan. 17 and run until Sunday, May 3. The exhibit uses animatronics and displays to explain body functions like vomiting and gas sounds. News 10
- ➤ The Nitrate Picture Show is returning to the George Eastman Museum from June 4 through June 7 in its 10th edition. Tickets will be on sale next Tuesday for this popular summer event. News 10
- ➤ Robert Hays and Julie Hagerty will appear at Kodak Center on May 29 to present a screening of 'Airplane!' plus a moderated Q and A session after the movie. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 16, with VIP meet-and-greet options and premium parking available. Democrat & Chronicle
