- ➤ Midge Thomas, a trusted community leader & educator, died Thursday at 99 after a long dedication to local service; she founded a nonprofit and opened community centers in Rochester. - ➤ Brewed Awakening, a division of Irish Mafia Brewing Co., opened a grab-and-go coffee shop at 6750 State Routes 5 + 20 in East Bloomfield on Jan. 7. - ➤ City of Rochester is accepting applications for summer recreation and aquatics positions at local R-Centers, camps, pools and beaches for candidates aged 15 and up; interviews begin in March for jobs starting in June and lifeguarding certification classes are free to residents + modest fees apply for non-residents. - ➤ The FDA has recalled several Pecorino Romano cheese brands due to deadly listeria contamination that can cause severe illness (check your fridge for expiration dates, including items sold in New York). Consumers may receive a full refund if they bought the affected products. NewsRadio WHAM
- ➤ The Ambriola Company is recalling grated Pecorino Romano cheese after listeria was found during tests, and it was sold under Locatelli, Boar's Head, Member's Mark, Ambriola, and Pinna brands between Nov. 3 and Nov. 30, 2025 - customers should return or discard any affected product. - ➤ Friday’s data show Monroe County reported over 8,000 flu cases, over 700 hospitalizations, and 21 deaths, with most patients over 65 — a sign of the season’s severity — as health officials urged residents to take precautions amid a strained care system. News 10
